ABSTRACT

Hidradenitis suppurativa is a suppurative and cicatricial inflammatory skin disease of the apocrine glands of pilosebaceous follicles most commonly in axillae and inguinal folds, with a chronic recurrent course with relapses and exacerbations. The management of patients suffering this condition is like of a chronic disease: long treatments, careful monitoring, patient education and psychosocial support. The treatment is medical and surgical, based on its clinical stage and time of evolution. Recent advances in the knowledge of the disease offer us new therapeutic schemes, such as biological therapies. Currently we even have first or second line treatments.
