ABSTRACT
Early sexual activity in adolescents is related to the current growing risk of having unwanted pregnancies which at this age bring adverse consequences. Family influence is essential to their sexual behavior. Aim. Determining the behavior of family health in pregnant adolescents in the municipality of Batabanó. Methods. A descriptive, quantitative-qualitative and transverse study was done from January to June 2015. The sample included 30 pregnant adolescents who matched the research. Documental analysis, Perception of Family Behavior Test, Review of Family Risk Characteristics, observation and a semi-structure interview were used, as well as descriptive statistics. Results. 60% of families were functional. Family risk characteristics affecting the families of pregnant adolescents were: senescent at home (36.6%), nutritional problems or bad dietary practices (73.3%), adolescent pregnancy (100%), young people out of schools (80%), and poor support from relatives other than family members at home (23.3%). 60% of families were critical between low (20%) and medium (40%). Conclusions. Functional families predominated, but communication difficulties were identified. Family risk characteristics affecting the most the families of pregnant adolescents were: pregnant adolescent at home matching the sample of the research, and also out of schools. Nutritional problems and bad dietary practices were identified. Most families had family adjustments.
