ABSTRACT
Obstructive sleep apnea-hypoapnea syndrome is a complex pathophysiologic picture that may have important consequences on overall
health and facial growth in children. For this reason the timely detection of symptoms and signs of this nosological entity is relevant. It
is important to carry out an anamnesis to investigate these symptoms and signs, as well as perform a facial examination with the same
purpose. Emphasis is placed on the use of lateral teleradiography as an adjunct to polysomnography. Because facial growth may be
affected in children with this syndrome, emphasis is placed on the timely shunt for dentomaxillary orthopedic treatments as part of a
comprehensive therapeutic approach.
