ABSTRACT
A case of T-cell extranodal lymphoma in a female of 52 years of age, is described with a history of oral ulcerations, in the last 3 years of espontaneous resolution. Examination revealed a tumor, 2 by 3 centimeters in diameter, irregular borders with multiple erythematous ulcerations 5 mm to 5 cm in diameter, and granulation tissue. This lesion affected soft and hard palate, and tonsils. She underwent computerized tomography of the skull, neck, trunk and abdomen. A biopsy specimen was taken for histologic examination, including cell typing by immunohistochemistry and bone marrow analysis that revealed T-cell lymphoma. No signs of malignancy were found in other sites. Non-Hodgkin extranodal lymphoma in oral mucosa constitutes 3% of the total of lymphomas. Most of them are B-cell type as reported in occidental literature, whereas in Asia and Latin America a higher frequency of T-cell variety is observed.
