ABSTRACT
An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study, of 63 pregnant women, that went to "Ormani Arenado Llonch" Teaching Stomatological Clinic was carried out in Pinar del Río, from January to July, 2015, in order to characterize them and determine the manifestation of some periodontal diseases (chronic edematous gingivitis, chronic fibroedematous gingivitis and aphthous stomatitis). In the investigation there was a prevalence of the 21-26 age group (32.0%) whose patients were mostly affected by aphthous stomatitis (34.4%), and as main risk factors we can mention the cariogenic diet (79.4%) and poor oral hygiene (71.4%). Likewise, dental calculus (71.4%) and pain (66.7%) were more frequent among the symptoms and signs of periodontal diseases, with prevalence of the latter in all the pregnant women that presented aphthous stomatitis.
