ABSTRACT
The sense of smell is of great significance for the quality of life in the human being, yet this contrasts with the high frequency of olfactory dysfunctions and the little or null consideration given to it by the general population and the medical profession. They are also mentioned the etiological factors and the difficulties for the individual and epidemiological evaluation. Also the importance of its repercussion in daily life activities caused by this pathology is remarked as well as the lack of publications on the matter, the respective educational and research needs, and the preventive aspects of this pathology (dysosmias). To tackle this problem in our country, we propose starting the Public health campaign “DO NOT NEGLECT YOUR OLFACTION.”
