ABSTRACT
For the first time in Mexico in October 2015, the first
case of infection was reported by virus Zika, Arboviruses
belonging to the genus flavivirus identified in 1947 in
Uganda, in the forests of Zika. Endemic in Africa and Asia,
this has been responsible for epidemics in different islands
of the Pacific in 2007 and Polynesia in 2013. In Easter
Island and the Cook Islands in 2014. Th e symptoms of the
infection can be mistaken for the dengue. Th e World
Health Organization at the end of 2015 warned of the
“rapid geographic expansion” virus Zika, since cases in 13
countries American and two outbreaks were detected last
year in Brazil and Colombia. For the moment, according
to the World Health Organization, there is no specific
treatment or vaccine. Vector control measures Ae.
aegypti and avoid their bite are the most relevant. Possible
associated complications, such as microcephaly, Guillain-
Barré Syndrome, other autoimmune and neurological
disorders and possible sexual transmission or blood are
studied. to the date of the present report, February 2,
2016, in Mexico have confi rmed 21 cases by the Ministry
of health. Th e World Health Organization issued an
international alert by the epidemic; the proportion of
cases might be alarming as it is in Brazil. Condition must
be an important preventative collaborative work together
with society in our State and country.
