ABSTRACT
Systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) and diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM2) are chronic degenerative diseases according to the National Survey and Nutrition 2012. HAS 19.7% increase, compared to 2006, that is SAH aff ects 1 in 3 adults Mexicans. While DM2 aff ects 6.8 million Mexicans, and is one of the leading causes of death nationwide and an estimated mortality rate grows 3% every year. Several studies describe a number of factors that contribute to the acquisition of SAH and DM2, such as the age, high diets high in saturated fats, smoking, sedentary lifestyle and the presence of other chronic degenerative diseases such as dyslipidemia, obesity, among others. Goal: To describe risk factors for hypertension and diabetes mellitus type 2 on professors in one of the departments of the University Center for Health Sciences. Material and methods: this quantitative, transversal and descriptive study was conducted on 30 professors teaching in one of the departments of the University Center for Health Sciences at the University of Guadalajara, during the period February to May this year. Where the survey “Risk factors for hypertension and diabetes mellitus type II” developed and endorsed by the Ministry of Health of Mexico was applied. Results: Risk factors for SAH and DM2 in professor’s teachers are: waist circumference, body mass index (BMI), weight, lack of exercise, age, stress, score and high risk of type 2 diabetes, blood sugar casual hair, and degree of BMI, diabetic brothers and systolic and diastolic blood pressure average. Conclusions: professor´s teachers Department studied the University Center for Health Sciences at the University of Guadalajara are at high risk for type 2 diabetes mellitus, regarding risk factors for hypertension.REFERENCES
