ABSTRACT
Introduction: adults suffer from pain in the neck and back that limits their mobility and cause personal and work upheavals. In Cuba it is estimated that more than half of the population suffers cervicalgia at some point in their life. Objective: to determine the effectiveness of the technique of dry puncture of the trigger points versus the myofascial induction in cervical pain syndrome of myofascial etiology. Method: a pre-experimental correlational study was performed, after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the sample was made up of 93 patients with cervicalgia of myofascial etiology, a protocol was applied to the control group that included dry puncture of the trigger points and the intervention group were applied myofascial induction. Results: 59.1 % of the sample was female. The mean age of participants was 40.38 years. Regarding body weight, the mean of the sample was found in the assessment of overweight, 25.4 % and the occupancy that predominated were those classified as part of the group of non-professionals in 43.2 %. Between intervention group and control group, the difference between the beginning and the end of treatment was statistically significant. Conclusions: treatment with the myofascial induction protocol has been found to be practically as effective as the protocol for dry puncture of the trigger points; pain improvement was more significant in the control group and the reduction of disability was more notable in the intervention group.REFERENCES
