ABSTRACT
Xanthogranulomas are benign histiocytic proliferations of unknown
origin. It is a frequent histiocytic proliferative disorder
in children, two-thirds of all cases beginning the first six-nine
months of life. Late onset lesions (adolescence or adult life) occur
in approximately 10-30% of cases and lesions tend to be
persistent in individuals who develop them after the age of 20
years. We present the case of an adult xanthogranuloma mimicking
a keratoacanthoma with a review of the literature.
