ABSTRACT
The present work examines the psychometric properties of the
spirituality scale proposed by Delaney in Puerto Ricans adults. The
Spirituality Scale is a holistic instrument that attempts to measure the
beliefs, intuitions, lifestyle choices, practices, and rituals
representative of the human spiritual dimension. A total of 328 Puerto
Ricans participated in this psychometric study. The results reflected a
solution of three factors as the most appropriate one to explain the
variance in the scorings. These factors were denominated Higher
Power/Universal Intelligence, Relationships, and Self-Discovery. A
total of 15 items complied with the criteria of discrimination and
presented appropriate factor loadings in one of the three factors. The
reliability index obtained for the version of 15 items of the scale was
.92.
