ABSTRACT
Introduction: Despite of the advantages of the adhesive tissue on the structure described in different surgical procedures, few studies in abdominal surgery exist and more in the pediatric population.
Objective: Determine the effectiveness of the adhesive tissue Butylcyanoacrylate (Histoacryl®), for inguinal surgery in pediatric surgery compared whit the suture use.
Material and methods: A controlled clinical rehearsal is developed, including patient pediatric whit elective surgery of channel inguinal and umbilical, excluding patient undernourished and whit added pathologies. They were distributed aleatorily in two groups: Use of adhesive tissue or he/she sutures of the wound closing; the time was measured in closing the wound; to the 7 days it was valuated: alignment of borders, blush, infection and dehiscence, pain grade for the retirement of points.
Results: 40 patients were included, 5(25%) of the feminine sex and 15(75%) masculine with age OF 57.4±36 months, weight of 18±7.2 kgs. The surgical closing presents a significant difference with adhesive tissue 1 minute versus suture 3.3 minutes (p=0.000). Blush on the surgical wound: 3(15%) patient whit adhesive versus 7(35%) with suture (p=0.27). Asymmetry of borders: 1(5%) patient with adhesive versus 4(20%) with suture (p=0.34). None of the patients presents infection data or dehiscence. The pain grade to the retirement of points was 52.5% without pain, 42.5% with light pain and 5% moderate pain.
Conclusions: The employment of adhesive tissue seemingly is presented like an useful alternative with advantages on the employment of sutures for the inguinal surgery closing in pediatric population.
