ABSTRACT
Tuberculosis is a disease to which most of the Mexican population has been exposed and, therefore, presents a primoinfection with it. Diabetes mellitus is part of the metabolic syndrome, whose prevalence is increasing every day in the developing countries. The presence of both diseases is now increasing its frequency in our country- In cases of comorbidity, diabetes mellitus directly affects the cellular and humoral immune response of the host against tubercle bacilli, thus causing exacerbation of the clinical manifestations of tuberculosis; likewise, the inflammatory condition of the patient increases his glycaemia and hinders its control, coupled with the hyperglycaemic effect of some TB drugs.
