ABSTRACT
It is generally accepted that complications after nephrectomy in the donor for renal transplantation
exist. Mortality is less than 0.3% and morbidity can account for up to 8.2%. The purpose
of this article is to study the morbidity causes and to acknowledge renal function after the
procedure.
We studied 25 patients from Hospital Juárez in Mexico City to determine renal function pre and
post-transplant. This was achieved determining creatinine, BUN, urea, and creatinine clearance
tests. Our results show that renal function is maintained within normal parameters. The
donor patients do not suffer major morbidity or renal dysfunction.
