ABSTRACT
We show the experience of two cases of electrical fourth-degree burn in extremities, with whom the VAC
® system was used as part of the length-preserving technique. In those patients, the limbs were not recoverable and gangrene processes and sepsis were present. In spite of that, the amputations were done on the distal end, preserving limb length. Negative pressure was applied through the VAC
® system on the stump and adjacent injuries with the purpose of solving the septic process and shaping the stump in a single surgery. This technique reduces further interventions and helps readjustment with the use of prosthesis.
