ABSTRACT
Primary cutaneous lymphomas are the second most common site of involvement of extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The nasal type lymphoma is considered a T/NK cutaneous lymphoma by the 2005 WHO/EORTC classification. Although in USA and Western it is not considered a common malignancy, in Central and South America, especially Mexico and Peru, a high incidence has been reported. The disease affects primarily the nasal and pharyngeal regions but chest and limbs can also be affected. This is an aggressive neoplasm; if we don’t have a high index of suspicion, diagnosis will be delayed. Unfortunately, the response to therapy is poor. We present the case of a 25 year-old male patient with an ulcerated tumor on the left nasal, eyelid and malar regions. After two skin biopsies and a clinic and histopathological correlation, the diagnosis of extranodal T/NK lymphoma nasal type was confirmed. Despite chemotherapy and radiotherapy the disease progressed and the patient died eight months after diagnosis.
