ABSTRACT
Pregnancy is a period in which physiological changes occur that can affect oral health. There are guidelines that must be taken into account during dental treatment to minimize the risk to the fetus and the mother. This article reviews the changes that occur during gestation and integral dental management in the pregnant woman. We conclude that dental treatment is safe and effective in any trimester. Oral health professionals should educate the pregnant patient about the importance of oral health, be aware of common oral manifestations and the treatment to be performed.
