ABSTRACT
Introduction: congenital malformations of the gastrointestinal tract are present at a high frequency in the neonatal period, gastroschisis is one of them, and they present a high mortality.Case presentation: A case of gastroschisis of a baby born in a delivery room with specialized medical care is presented, with a history of not having specialized prenatal care, with associated risk factors. A neonate with a wall defect abdominal, located in the right paraumbilical region with exposed intestine, flaccid, with generalized cyanosis, tachycardia, in respiratory arrest, resuscitation is carried out and respiratory rate is recovered, respiratory distress is maintained, skin color is improved, intestinal loops are packaged, placing an orogastric tube, vein was channeled with solution to maintain hydration.
Conclusions: the prenatal diagnosis would allow a timely treatment with better results. The baby was referred to a third-level hospital.
