ABSTRACT
Phototherapy is a therapy widely used in patients with psoriasis.
Its effectiveness has been proven by the reduction of PASI
(psoriasis area severity index) and the results are comparable to
those achieved with other therapies more expensive and with
more adverse effects. The aim of this review is to emphasize
the benefits, indications and contraindications of phototherapy,
which is a cost-effect treatment, which can be used as monotherapy
or in combination with other topical and/or systemic
therapy. Currently they have been dabbling new technologies,
despite this, phototherapy is still a relevant and treatment that
its use should be indicated more frequently.
