ABSTRACT
Chromoblastomycosis is a chronic subcutaneous mycosis deep
and long chronic course, caused by a group of fungal dematiaceous
particularly affecting the lower limbs. The disease occurs
in tropical and subtropical areas. Fungal penetration occurs
through wounds or through skin trauma in contact with contaminated
soil by inhabited saprophytic fungal species, usually
affecting agricultural workers. This article describes a case of
chromoblastomycosis by
Phialophora verrucosa in a patient with a
five years history of an injury in an atypical location.
