ABSTRACT
The prevalence of allergic diseases had increased significantly over the last decade, mainly food allergy.
The explanation about this could be the dysbiosis of the gastrointestinal microbiota due to misuse of antibiotics, the type of diet, delivery mode (cesarean section), and the proposal of the hygiene hypothesis. The resilience of the gastrointestinal microbiota with prebiotics, probiotics, in the prevention or treatment of these diseases gives us a window of opportunities, because of their immunomodulatory effects.
