ABSTRACT
Teaching through the use of tales or narrative is a method that can be useful in Medicine. The tale that is presented, expresses some diffi culties that any patient can face to be attended and involves aspects related to the patient himself, his disease, the low effi ciency of medical processes and the adverse outcome which is the predictable result of all the plot. The problem begins with a defi cient physician-patient relationship in which the doctor shows very low interest for the patient’s case. Next, the further attention is delayed and defi cient, so the progression of the disease is allowed because none of the involved persons makes his (her) job appropriately and do not care for the patient who is roughly treated. The tale also shows that the patient’s behavior is passive, he accepts all the negative answers he receives and does not act to obtain the attention he needs. Finally, a bad communication in addition to the above, provokes the death of the patient. With this story, we pretend to show that in many health institutions there is a lack of a good physician-patient relationship, as well as a lack of empathy, of interest to help, and on top of that, there are ineffi cient processes that can lead patients to die and nobody seems to care about it. Teaching good attitudes is very diffi cult and can be achieved through role models who lead by example.
