ABSTRACT
The importance of acquired myasthenia gravis is described as a not rare disorder in veterinary medicine, being a common cause of acquired megaesophagus. Normal physiology of neuromuscular junction, pathophysiology, classification, signalment, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis are discussed. Controversies about its treatment, prognosis and the relevance of not subdiagnosing this disease are analyzed.
