ABSTRACT
Few studies have examined the relationship between anthropometric
measures and drive for muscularity. The objective of
the present study was to evaluate the relationship between
drive for muscularity and six anthropometric indicators. Sixtytwo
bodybuilders and 81 sedentary men answered the Drive
for Muscularity Scale (DMS), and also six anthropometric indicators
were measured (body mass index, adiposity, and four
indexes assessing muscularity). There were statistically significant
differences between groups in anthropometric indicators
except for body mass index and waist circumference.
Similarly, differences were observed in the three subscales
and total score of the DMS. Regression analysis revealed that
the arm circumference, fat percentage and body mass index
scores predicted scores on the DMS and its subscales.
