Colovesical fistulas: Comments for its management

ABSTRACT
The aim of this study is to present our experience in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of complicated diverticula disease with fistula mainly colo-vesical at the Hospital de Especialidades del Centro Medico Nacional Siglo XXI del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social, between January 1996 to January 1999. Forty cases (thirteen men 92% and one woman 7%) manifested mainly with lower recurrent urinary tract infections or resistant to the medical treatment, pneumaturia, fecaluria, irritative symptoms and haematuria. All patients were treated surgically without complications no neither on the urinary and digestive tract were seen with participation of the Colorectal Service. The diagnosis and treatment of this entity requires of multidisciplinary participation.
