Clinical improvement and quality of life with the application of HYLAN GF-20 and COLLAGEN- PVP in patients with knee osteoarthritis

ABSTRACT
Knee osteoarthritis is a joint disease characterized by degeneration, loss of cartilage and subchondral bone alteration, associated with changes in the soft tissues, Mexico prevalence of osteoarthritis it was found 2.3% in adults at Bicentennial Hospital of ISSSTE It represents the second cause of consultation.Objetive: to compare and evaluate the clinical response and the improvement of the quality of life of the patients to the application of two intra articular products HYLAN G-F 20 AND COLLAGEN-PVP.
Material and Method: Two groups of patients were taken; the first 70 patients who will apply HYLAN G-F 20 in three infiltrations and another group of 40 patients was applied COLLAGEN-PVP in four applications, it was conducted interrogation based on the questionnaire WOMAC (Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index) with which we can assess pain, stiffness and functional capacity before application and after application drug.
Results: In our study we observed more efficient HYLAN GF -20 to decrease pain and improve patient functionality and COLLAGEN-PVP for reducing stiffness.
Conclusion: Both treatments offer a choice of safe and effective treatment available to our patients in our Institute. In both cases, infiltration HYLAN G- F 20 as infiltration with COLLAGEN-PVP improve the quality of life of our patients. With better clinical response with HYLAN GF-20.
