ABSTRACT
Introduction. Psychological well-being is a construct
that has been widely studied in the field of psychology, often
confused with constructs such as quality of life or
mental health, but its study in recent decades allowed a
definition: is the evaluation that the person makes of his
living, in specific areas such as employment, family, couple,
etc. and an affective evaluation related to the frequency and
intensity of positive and negative emotions, their research
has been included in numerous investigations into the
health field and in different populations.
Objective. To obtain a scale adapted to local conditions
and the specific population.
Material and methods. In this research, the scale was adapted
from Ryff’s Psychological Well-being Scale in adolescents
and conducted descriptive and comparative
analysis. We obtained a sample of 208 students from
the UAEMex between 14 and 18 years, which 50% were
female and the rest men.
Results. As for the scale, was obtain an alpha of
0.9191 for the four factors that comprise, a percentage
of variance explained by 41.791, the analysis per
groups indicated differences in some of the factors compared
by gender and age ranges.
Conclusion. Psychological Well-Being Scale is an excellent
indicator of the relationship that the subject has to
itself (Self) and their environment (Interpersonal Relations),
but it is necessary to adapt the model to integrate
other areas of intervention such as positive psychology.
