Psychotherapeutic approach for patients with breats cancer

ABSTRACT
The presence of breast cancer brings a significative
psychological impact which causes emotional reactions
as well as diverse psychiatric synmptomatology that happened
since the suspect of cancer and thorough the
diagnostic and therapeutic process. Psychotherapeutic
approach is a nondispensable strategy which in its psychoeducational
vertient contributes to diminish psychosocial
distress an to prevent their progression to any psychopathological
condition; whereas in its therapeutic
vertient contributes to the integral management of clinical
conditions of anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress,
insomnia and resulting symptoms from chemotherapy or
to the artificial interruption of menopause. On the other
hand issues related to spiritual dimension as well as ending
life issues is susceptible of clinical attention thru
psychotherapy. This work describes the basic elements
of applied psychotherapy to the oncology field and in particular
to the breast cancer patients, outlining the different
modalities and its application as needed into the phases
of the oncological disease.
