ABSTRACT
This submission was made to guide students in the School of Psychology, about some of the most important issues related to its foray into the field of Special Education. Addressed: the definition of special education; legal definitions of disability and some of the rights of people living in this condition, in Mexico; statistical information on disability in the country, according to the National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Informatics; classification published by the American Psychiatric Association, through the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, known as DCM IV, and concludes with the specification of the professional duties of the psychologist, and skills to be acquired in the theoretical training to venture into practice within the field of special education.REFERENCES
