ABSTRACT
A clinical experience is reported in the urethra reconstruction by oral mucosa graft, in 47 patients with complex malformations characterized by scant preputium and long urethral fault, with diagnoses which include complex hypospadias, epispadias, posterior urethra obstruction and urethra stenosis of more than three cm long. The oral mucosa graft was tube-shaped between three and l2 cm long. The operation was performed in one surgical time and by only one team of surgeons. Cystostomy-type urinary derivation and urethral splint were used in every case. Clinical outcome was very successful and so was the good caliber spontaneous miction. Passing urethral dilations were required in eight patients, other three of them developed urethral obstruction; as to urethral fistula it was presented in four patients with the need for a second surgery. These fine results ratify the significance of utilizing the oral mucosa graft in urethra reconstruction for complex instancies, as an excellent and reliable alternative to rebuild this kind of complicated cases.REFERENCES
