ABSTRACT
Abandonment is defined as lack of attention by a family member or person in charge of a vulnerable
patient. Nowadays, abandonment is considered a type of abuse to vulnerable people. In our country
there is not a clear statistics of its prevalence. In Hospital General de México “Dr. Eduardo Liceaga”,
are attended people from all around the country, from any social class and age. It is common to notice
abandonment due to evolution of different not treated and complicated vascular diseases, which most
often need a radical or palliative management. It is necessary to create specialized and interdisciplinary
groups who guarantee a better quality of life for patients and their families.
