ABSTRACT
Background. Laparoscopic varicocelectomy is an alternative in the treatment of varicocele.
Objective. Inform the results of the evaluation of testicular size with ultrasound in patients that have been operated with laparoscopic varicocelectomy with clippage of internal spermatic arteries and veins.
Material and methods. From march 1998 to june 2000, 20 patients underwent laparoscopic varicocelectomy with clippage of internal spermatic arteries and veins. Testicular size was evaluated preoperatively and 4 years after surgery with ultrasound.
Results. There were no statistically significant changes in testicular size.
Discussion. Laparoscopic varicocelectomy with clippage of internal spermatic arteries and veins is a safe procedure in patients without previous inguinal surgery.
Conclusion. No changes were observed in the size of the testes in any of the patients, four years after laparoscopic varicocelectomy with clippage of internal spermatic arteries and veins.
