ABSTRACT
Introduction: Female stress urinary incontinence is a disease with high incidence which impacts quality of life because it reduces autonomy and affects the self-esteem of those who suffer from it. Objective: To demonstrate the usefulness of the transobturator sling in female stress urinary incontinence. Method: Between January 2012 and August 2014, a prospective and retrospective longitudinal descriptive study was carried out in which the universe included all the patients that attended the urology outpatient clinic at "Dr. Luis Díaz Soto" and The National Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery (NCMIS) Hospitals. The following selection criteria were taken into consideration: female stress urinary incontinence patient associated or not to cystorectocele without previous anti incontinence surgery. Results: Predominant ages were between 50 and 60 years, 79% of patients had obstetric antecedents, grade of postoperative continence was satisfactory, being partial urinary retention the main complication, solved with catheterization. Conclusions: According to our experience, the transobturator technique is effective and safe in the surgical treatment for female stress urinary incontinence; nevertheless, only long-term follow up and the inclusion of new patients in the study will allow to determine the continuance of these good results.REFERENCES
