ABSTRACT

Meningitis and subdural abscess are few common complications caused by Salmonella typhi (S. typhi); it occurs more frequently in infants and children, and it is extremely rare in adults without immunocompromise. We report a case of a 34-year old woman who suffered from meningitis, fever and neurological disorders. We documented meningitis and subdural abscess by Salmonella typhi. The patient underwent surgical drainage. She was discharged home with paraplegia as sequelae and currently she is under a rehabilitation program. Meningitis and subdural abscess are extremely rare in immunocompetent patients, its early diagnosis and treatment will prevent complications.
