ABSTRACT
Male infertility accounts for about 50% of fertility problems in couples globally; studies have been directed to the
study of diseases and syndromes that respond to the diagnosis and treatment to achieve a pregnancy to term with
the genetics of both parents without needing the introduction of third party donated gametes. Primary ciliary
dyskinesia/Kartagener syndrome is a genetic disease characterized by a varied clinical presentation and about 50%
develop flagellar sperm immobility level, depending on the gene mutation movement pattern will be different and
in most cases will insufficient for normal fertilization. The objective of this article is to review in the literature
concepts to understand this syndrome, diagnostic techniques and possibilities for treatment.
