ABSTRACT
Facial trauma demands immediate attention, it has particular situations which by their nature and content of important structures such as the nasal and oral cavities that relate to the airway, requires special handling. The submental derivation is an excellent option for patients with facial trauma involving these structures, who require maxillomandibular fixation, often avoiding the tracheostomy procedure, which represents increased morbidity. In this paper we describe two techniques: Altemir and Green-Moore; indications, advantages, disadvantages and complications. We present two cases obtaining proper management of the airway which allowed us to perform procedures to reduce facial fractures.REFERENCES
