ABSTRACT
Hypotthyroidism is the most
common thyroid disease,
when appears with elevated
TSH and decreased free T4 is
called over hypothyroidism,
and when is only manifested
with elevated THS and with
normal free T4 values is called
subclinical hypothyroidism.
The most common cause is
autoimmune etiology. The
diagnosis during pregnancy
is made with THS and the
diagnosis values depend on the
trimester. Screening pregnant
women is only recommended
when the patient has any
risk factors. The treatment is
levothyroxine and is indicated
in all patients diagnosed with
clinical hypothyroidism before
or during pregnancy and
in patients with subclinical
hypothyroidism who develop
symptoms.
