Prevalence of postpartum depression in Hospital de la Mujer in Tlaxcala

ABSTRACT
Introduction. Depression is more prevalent among postpartum women. The aim was to evaluate the prevalence of post-partum depression at the Hospital de la Mujer in Tlaxcala.
Material and methods. This study was conducted at the Hospital de la Mujer in Tlaxcala on 300 patients with diagnosis of post-partum, who accepted freely and with complete knowledge to participate in the study. The EPDS was applied.
Results. In relation to the Perinatal depression of Edinburgh scale, a prevalence of 18.3% was obtained. This results are similar to the previous scores reported.
Conclusions. With the use of the EPD an increased prevalence was shown compared to the prevalence reported in previous studies.
