The teaching staff improvement in the Faculty of “Julio Trigo” Medical Sciences, 2013-2014 school year

ABSTRACT
Objective: To describe the behavior of teaching staff improvement in the “Julio Trigo” School ascribed to the University of Medical Sciences of Havana, in the 2013-2014 school year.Method: Document Review, analysis-synthesis and systemic approach; descriptive statistical techniques to calculate absolute frequencies and percentages.
Results: For a faculty of 378 professors, 31 activities in 4 subject areas were taught: Pedagogy; Political and ideological; Information Technologies and Communications (ICT) and Research; Languages. Educational activities grouped 16 of which graduated 321 teachers; the political-ideological sphere consisted of seven activities with 341 graduates .In Information Technologies and Communications and Research 232 teachers received 5 activities, and 3 courses of English graduated 47 teachers. 20 courses and 10 not face to face training courses were taught; and also a cycle of specialized lectures.
Conclusions: The teaching staff improvement was characterized by the dominance of courses. The ideological and Political Education were the subject areas in which most teachers overcome and the latest accounted the largest number of activities; Information Technologies and Communications training and research did not live up to previous language training and graduated the lowest amount, because it is mainly allocated to partners for englishspeaking countries.
