ABSTRACT
Acute cholecystitis is a
complication of cholelithiasis,
affecting most frequently
the female form. Its clinical
presentation is characterized
mainly by a right upper
quadrant pain associated with
nausea, anorexia and fever. The
diagnosis is based on clinical
parameters and radiographic
findings mainly on ultrasound.
The definitive treatment is
laparoscopic cholecystectomy
to be done within 24 to 72
hours to reduce the risk of
complications.
