Brain stroke, atypical complication of an asthma attack. A case report

ABSTRACT
Asthma is a chronic disease more prevalent in the population pediatric, with a high rate of morbidity and mortality, considered a health problem public worldwide. In the course of the natural history of the disease, emergency department visits are due to episodes of asthma exacerbations secondary to known triggering factors and which are characterized by episodes of obstruction of the airway, conditioning hypercapnia and hypoxemia, impaired lung function, absenteeism school-work and impact on quality of life, complications such as pneumothorax pneumomediastinum, atelectasis, or congestive heart failure, to serious events from status asthmaticus to near-fatal asthma episodes, endangering life. The complications recognized frequently are associated with State asthmatic and cardiopulmonary are. We present the case of a female patient of 16 years of age with asthma of difficult control who developed atypical complications with cerebral vascular event and heart block during an asthmatic exacerbations.
