Ultrasonic lipoplasty: evaluation of results in 730 patients treated by corporal lipodystrophy

ABSTRACT

The study presents a series of 730 patients seeking improvement of their body contour by lipodystrophy, both primary and secondary, in which the treatment used, was the application of ultrasonic energy to improve the results and reduce morbidity and standardize variables. In this series 85%, (620 cases) were women; the youngest was 17 years old and the oldest 70 years old. The volume of fat removed ranged between 9 liters and 2 and a half liters. All cases of more than three and a half liters were treated with blood auto-transfusion two to three weeks before the procedure. 15% were men (110) the youngest was 20 years old and the oldest was 60 years old, with an average extraction of six liters with a better definition in body contouring, fewer scars, less morbidity and a mortality rate of zero. A simple method of assessing results, according to the patients´ satisfaction is used and presented.
