ABSTRACT
Anemia and blood transfusion requirements in the perioperative increase the risk of adverse event. It is a limitation the availability and cost. Adequate preoperative assessment, optimization of hemoglobin levels and the risk of bleeding have a positive impact in reducing complications. In the bleeding during surgery should be used strategies to minimize bleeding and decrease transfusion requirements. It’s imperative to individualize each patient depending on the context and to decide the optimum number during the perioperative hemoglobin.
