ABSTRACT
Inguinodynia it means to chronic pain in the inguinal region, which is usually neuropathic and results of surgical repair of a hernia, with a highly variable incidence that becomes about 11%. After surgery, patients experience discomfort that can be integrated within 3 painful syndromes: somatic, visceral or nervous; however, the pain persists and becomes chronic, usually due to a neuropathic origin. Patients develop symptoms of varying severity, ranging from paresthesias or hypoesthesias, to rigthful episodes of disabling pain. The diagnosis is clinical, where dermatomes mapping helps to define the affected area and have control of the patient’s progress. Management includes a wide variety of choices both conservative and interventionist, including drug therapy, nerve blocks, neuroablatives techniques, use of neuromodulation and surgery. Most of these techniques, although they have shown encouraging results, the experience is still scarce and the level of evidence for low recommendation.
