ABSTRACT
Mitocondrial diseases produce a series of neuro-ophthalmological diseases. The must comon, optic atrophy, oftalmoplegia, pigmentary retinopaty and retroquiamatic alterations. Twenty three patients with mitocondrial disease diagnosed by muscle biopsy were studied, 69.6% had decrease of visual acuity. No trat-ment is available at the moment but the diagnosis is basic for prognosis and avoid unnecessary treatments.
