ABSTRACT
Endometriosis is the presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterus. It mainly affects the uterine cavity, originating symptoms as pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia and infertility. There are extrapelvic conditions that are less frequent. Within these there is a cutaneous presentation which represents around 1% of all cases of endometriosis. There are two types of presentation: primary or spontaneous which is not originated due to any type of surgical procedure, and has a predilection for the umbilical zone; and secondary, that appears after a surgical intervention of the abdomen or pelvis, and is the most frequent form of presentation. The clinical presentation is characterized by the presence of a nodular formation sometimes multilobulated, reddish to bluish color, firm or elastic consistency and a size that varies between millimeters or centimeters. It can cause pain, inflammation and pruritus. However, there have been cases in which the presentation is asymptomatic. The definitive diagnosis is anatomopathologic and surgical treatment is first choice. We present a case of primary cutaneous endometriosis in the umbilical region in a 32 year old patient.REFERENCES
