ABSTRACT
There are sex differences in sleep architecture. Sex hormones influence
sleep. Women’s sleep fluctuates during the menstrual cycle and through
menopause. Sex hormones have a significant role on the etiology of some
prevalent women’s diseases, including sleep disorders. This article
reviews evidence of the effects of sex steroids on sleep in humans
and animals.
