ABSTRACT
Alterations in immune regulation in the liver and digestive tract predispose to multiple damage of organs and hinder its resolution. The clinical appearance of hepatic dysfunction may be delayed with respect to the beginning of sepsis, worsen the clinical course of the patient and promoting the emergence of multiple damage of organs. 1143 autopsies of deceased were analyzed with sepsis -the Automated System for Registration and Control of pathologically Anatomy was used- and it is emphasized in the histological diagnosis of the liver, in which the most obvious structural alterations were reactive hepatitis, hepatic steatosis and hepatic cholestasis, always related to sepsis. The relationship of these structural patterns of the liver of patients with severe sepsis and multiple damage of organs were checked. All who developed multiple damage of organs presented reactive hepatitis, 39.62% of patients with hepatic steatosis and 33.33% of patients with hepatic cholestasis developed multiple damage of organs.REFERENCES
