The spleen: cemetery of leukocytes and radiological knowledge

ABSTRACT
The spleen is the largest lymphoid organ in the body. It is an intraperitoneal
organ which, on account of its anatomical position at the thoracoabdominal
juncture, is difficult to access using methods of clinical
exploration. Using image diagnostic methods: ultrasound, computed
tomography, and magnetic resonance, an adequate evaluation of the
spleen can be achieved, providing anatomical and pathological information.
The purpose of this review is recreation and exemplification, by
means of pictorial representation, of the findings in splenic pathology
by means of radiological and sectional image studies.
