Horizontal supernumerary tooth at level of the apex of inferior incisive. Case presentation

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the supernumerary teeth or hyperdontia are characterized by a superior number of teeth to the normal one. The occurrence can be only or multiple, unilateral or bilateral, eruption or impacted and in the maxilla or in the maxillary inferior, or in both. The supernumerary teeth are more frequent in the permanent teething. The diagnosis and treatment of these pieces becomes necessary to avoid later complications that could alter the dental arch and to cause nuisances and pain to the patient.Objective: to expose the diagnosis and treatment of a clinical case with a retained horizontal tooth at level of the inferior apex of the incisive ones.
Case presentation: 61 years old female patient is presented that goes to consultation of Orthodontics, because she had Pain Facial Syndrome, without apparent cause, and is diagnosed a retained horizontal tooth at level of the inferior apex of the incisive. It is carried out excision of tooth with satisfactory evolution.
Conclusions: the treatment of a supernumerary tooth is the excision, for aesthetic and functional reasons, as well as to avoid possible complications. In this case it was carried out the immediate excision and the evolution was satisfactory.
